Air Flight Safety Regulations
Safe Travel

My wife and I stopped carrying our luggage with us onto airplanes
several years ago. As a business we stopped carrying luggage to
trade shows on airplanes four years ago. We know where we are
going, have reservations, and we ship out ahead of time. Many of
our clients are making the same move with their personal items and their
broadcast and cinematography batteries. We suggest that whether
national or international, if possible, ship ahead using DHL, FedEx, or
UPS. It is a LOT less hassle.
I understand that if the battery is attached to the equipment it is
allowed. If batteries are Locked onto their charger I believe that
would be, "Attached" to the equipment. Still secure the equipment
in hard cases!
We also suggest that you purchase simple Glad or Rubbermaid containers
for each individual battery. Add padding, enclose the battery,
seal the lid, and package all in a hard container or suitcase for
shipping.
We are looking into personalized plastic containers for our battery line
but it will be more expensive than your personal modification of plastic
containers.
The bottom line: Do NOT be cheap or stupid
on Safety. Your children or family may be on a flight with an
idiot cutting corners on his or her lithium ion batteries. I know
because of our many fine clients we still interface with some. I
do not want June and I to fly with them. I Encourage You to Report
Them. There are severe penalties.
